About us
Threads and Treads is a non-profit fund established in 2024 at Christ Church United Church of Christ (CCUCC) Elizabethtown to supply new clothing, sneakers and other school necessities to economically disadvantaged students in Elizabethtown Area School District (EASD).
Mission Statement
Our Mission Statement is to recognize and dignify the value and needs of economically disadvantaged students of the Elizabethtown Area School District by ensuring they have the basic necessities to support a successful learning environment.
How We Do It
Students are identified by a School Counselor or Social Worker, a list of necessary items is created, primarily from Amazon, due to its wide selection and fast shipping. This is forwarded to the Threads and Treads Committee Char at CCUCC. The Chair places the order, and items are shipped directly to the school district. If a different vendor is needed, Dr. Jennifer Fields contacts the Threads and Treads Committee Chair, for approval.
Student Testimonials

“I can focus on learning instead of worrying.” (Student who has received hygiene and household products)
“This helped me a lot and took some stress off my family.”
Staff Testimonials
“It was so nice to be able to support a grandparent who has recently taken in her grandson full-time and was trying to make ends meet on her own. We were able to provide winter clothing for her growing grandson and help lighten the financial burden.”
“As a teacher at Etown, I have seen firsthand the positive impact that this program can have on students. This support not only met immediate needs but also reinforced a sense of care and belonging, creating a more inclusive learning environment for all.”
“The family of two students at our high school is currently facing significant hardship and has limited access to clothing and other essentials needed to meet their basic needs. Despite these challenges, they attend school regularly, work diligently in their classes, and make every effort to connect with their peers. The Threads and Treads program has been an invaluable resource for them, allowing the students to purchase new winter clothing and sneakers.”
